The Kosovo Ambassador Programme

The Kosovo Ambassador Programme is designed to give individuals with no previous experience of Kosovo a chance to visit the country, meet politicians, business people, ex soldiers, de-miners and sports professionals.  In addition, they will visit schools, charity centres, and tourist locations to gain an understanding of the country, its culture, history and its future.

In year one, the Programme will be run as a pilot programme and be subject to review and adjustment as appropriate.  Our first year Ambassadors will also have the opportunity to get involved in other Gëzuar projects.  In consequence, Ambassadors will have a unique opportunity to make a genuine and lasting difference in Kosovo.

The Programme is based on ten people visiting Kosovo to learn about its culture, experience its mountains and natural beauty.  Importantly, at the heart of the experience is interactions with the people of Kosovo who will explain what it means to be Kosovan and their hopes and aspirations for the future.

The Ambassadors Programme, in year one, will target business people and professionals from the UK.  However, the intention is to recruit people from a range of different backgrounds and with different life experiences.  Collectively Ambassadors will be part of a unique project which over the course of one year, will provide them with an enhancing and rewarding experience which will stay with them a lifetime.

The Ambassadors will form a professional network which, on the return to the UK, will undertake two speaking engagements outlining their visit and promoting the Programme to other prospective Ambassadors.

Each Ambassador visit to Kosovo will be prepared with a number of core elements, but a degree of flexibility will be retained so that each tour can be tailored to any specific interests of the participants.  An outline of the Programme and a day-by-day itinerary will be sent out four weeks before the date of departure.

Integral to the Ambassadors Programme is a photography and documentary project which will be developed over a three-year period and be used to chart the progress of the programme and Gëzuar’s impact in Kosovo. Each Ambassador will receive her/his own DVD documentary of their trip.

Provisional costs for a five day trip are £800.  Ambassadors’ will also commit to raise at least £250 for a Kosovo charity and Gëzuar will match their donation.  Ambassadors’ will visit three charities on their visit to Kosovo and will be able to choose which charity to support.  In year one, the programme will have its focus on projects which support minority groups in Kosovo.

The costs include: Flights, Accommodation, Internal travel and breakfast.
