Mauritania formally recognises Kosovo

The Republic of Mauritania recognises the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state and has decided to establish diplomatic relations, informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mauritania.

The announcement was made for recognition through the General Consulate of the Republic of Kosovo in New York, with a note-verbale from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, sent the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo.

Referring to the letter of his Excellency, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo Skender Hyseni, sent to Foreign Minister and the cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mauritania has the honour to notify the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo that the Islamic Republic of Mauritania has recognized Kosovo as an independent and sovereign country and has taken the decision to establish diplomatic relations at ambassadorial level," reads the note-verbale recognition.

Mauritania has expressed the conviction that this decision opens great opportunities for the development of bilateral relations and cooperation with mutual interest in all aspects, political, economic, social and cultural.

Mauritania is the 65th country to recognize Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state.
